| Comments: | Introduces four core Christian values that impact our response to social moral issues. Defines and illustrates three dimensions of justice with contemporary and practical examples. The tone of the narrator (Richard Sparks) is relaxed and open. A discussion of the content could be interesting, lively and enlightening. The video dates from the mid-90’s so the production is a bit dated but the content is rich without being ponderous or preachy. |

One of four lectures by Franciscan Father Richard Rohr. Rohr is relaxed and knowledgeable. He holds your interest for the 120 minutes. At the end of the lecture, there are questions from the audience which Rohr deftly answers. Before listening to this tape it would be helpful to read the gospel of Mark and bring bibles to lecture. The content of the lecture would lend itself to discussion and questions. Along with the three other gospels, this series would provide a basic understanding of the different perspectives of each gospel. The presentation is simply Fr. Rohr lecturing. |

This series is very well
adapted to small faith community gatherings. It is well organized.
Leadership
could be handled and shared by members of the faith group. Questions
and background
material are high level which would lend itself to good discussions. Fr
Michael
Himes is an experienced teacher with a warm and witty style. His
presentation
is accompanied by interesting visuals. Fr. Himes gives 3 major reasons
for the
need for community: Community ties us back to reality and thereby
validates our
spiritual lives; community is a training ground in the spiritual life;
community is the occasion for our conversion. |
